RESIDENTIAL SUPERVISOR
NEAR NORTH YOUTH CENTRE
The Children's Aid Society for the Districts of Nipissing and Parry Sound is looking for a Residential Supervisor for the Centre des Jeunes Near North Youth Centre. This secure custody/detention facility serves a female population between the ages of 12 and 17. Reporting to the Manager of Services, this individual manages all administrative functions and the day-to-day operations of all programs at the Near North Youth Centre resulting from Secure Custody or Secure Detention dispositions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Providing full supervisory coverage and managing up to 30 staff for both the Near North Youth Centre and the Community Support Team, the Residential Supervisor monitors and evaluates the ongoing services and makes recommendations to the Manager of Services regarding changes and/or enhancements.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated, enthusiastic and able to work in a complex and demanding environment. Candidates must possess exceptional, demonstrated leadership and management skills enabling our organization to fulfill its mandate and to achieve the goals of the Society and the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Qualifications required include:
Masters degree in Social Work or a related field in Human Services with a minimum of five years experience working in children's/ human services. A Baccalaureate in Social Work or related field in Human Services may be considered. Thorough knowledge and understanding/application of the various legislative Acts, Regulations, Standards, and Policies and Procedures Excellent knowledge and understanding of the theories and practices in Residential Programming, intervention and behavior management for children and youth involved with mental health, social service, and
the youth criminal justice systems. Fluency in both official languages, English and French is an asset.
